In the early episodes of the show, William Frawley, who had co-starred with Fred MacMurray in the film Car 99, played the boys’ grandfather and a live-in housekeeper named William Michael Francis “Bub” O’Casey. However, due to Frawley’s declining health, he was replaced in 1965 by William Demarest as “Uncle Charlie”, Barb’s brother.

In the same year, as the show moved from ABC to CBS and began shooting in color, the role of the eldest son Mike (Tim Considine) and Sally Ann Morrison (Meredith MacRae) ) got married and was written to show.

Don Grady plays Steve’s second son, Robbie Douglas, in “My Three Sons.” In addition to his acting career, Grady is a musician and served four years in the U.S. Army Reserves.
After the sitcom ended, he decided to focus on his musical pursuits. Grady has been involved in various musical projects, including composing the music for the film “Switch” and working with David Cassidy, Michael Crawford, Rick Springfield and Tommy Tune on Performing on the Vegas stage show. He also appeared in stage productions of “Pippin,” “Damn Yankees” and “Godspell.”
